See what's happening at the National Biodiesel Conference…

Collegiate Biodiesel Producers Forum

First on the program at the National Biodiesel Conference was the Collegiate Biodiesel Producers Forum. There are more biodiesel production facilities at colleges than ever. I spoke with Susan Williams and Ilya Tabakh, KU Biodiesel Initiative, to learn about this first time session which is meant to guide young producers on their path to joining the biodiesel industry.

Ilya says the idea behind the forum was to bring a group of collegiate producers together to share ideas and learn how to work together better including with industry organizations like the National Biodiesel Board. Attendees came from a number of different universities. Hopefully this forum will encourage more students and universities to get involved with biodiesel and to attend the conference.

Super Time At Conference

Attendees at the 2012 National Biodiesel Conference had a super time at the annual Super Bowl Party. This kick off event was fun filled with a variety of tasty foods and beverages.

The Super Bowl party provides a great opportunity to relax and enjoy some fellowship before the business of the conference gets underway. We’ve got a schedule filled with activities starting bright and early tomorrow morning. During the next several days I’ll be posting interviews and stories as I find them and of course I’ll be adding to the photo album.

Delivering Now at the National Biodiesel Conference

The 2012 National Biodiesel Conference is underway in Orlando, FL at the Gaylord Palms. We’re going to get off to a super start with the annual Super Bowl party this evening. Hello and welcome to the National Biodiesel Conference Blog. I’m your Biodiesel Blogger once again. Hard to believe this will be our 7th year together. Thank you to New Holland for being our sponsor!

Registration is underway along with a couple of pre-conference sessions. I’ve heard that registration is up significantly this year which is a good sign for the industry. I have started collecting photos here: 2012 National Biodiesel Conference Photo Album. Check back often as I update them whenever I get a chance.

2012 National Biodiesel Conference Preview

Only a couple days now until the kick-off of the Super Bowl – and the 2012 National Biodiesel Conference.

We caught up with National Biodiesel Board CEO Joe Jobe at the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit to get a preview what promises to be a great conference. “Attendance is up, exhibitors are up, sponsorship is up, which is really a reflection of the fact that the industry’s back,” Jobe says. “The industry has come back and it’s really one of the most exciting come back stories since maybe Harley-Davidson.”

Jobe says there’s enthusiasm and excitement, but also a lot of work that needs to be done. “We need to talk about how we think about the industry going forward through the lens of the RFS, which is going to be the cornerstone of the industry moving forward,” he noted.

The conference will be held February 5-8 at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center in Orlando and while on-line registration is closed, there will be on-site registration for last minute attendees.
